I watched Serenity and gnashed my teeth even more about Firefly. Now I'm watching B5 from the beginning and picking up, I think, forshadows of some events- such as when G'Kar refused to scream when being tortured by the assassin.
hmm. I made a post, couldn't find it, made a second one with about the same content, found both, deleted the second, and now can't find the original. So now I'm going to post this and see if the original appears again.
edited to add: Well, that worked, but it was odd that the first post didn't show up until there was another one after it. It may have had something to do with the first being on a new page.

Hey Bmat. Seems like a quiet summer here. I'm still hoping for some type of science fiction rennaissance, but I have to admit, I now read mostly mysteries and watch mostly sports. And the money that used to go to cable tv now goes to a membership at the gym and (if I'm lucky, very lucky) season basketball tickets for the U.F. Gators (National Champs!!! just in case anyone didn't know).
And the next Harry Potter novel is still a year away! Gosh.
I agree- a long wait for Harry Potter.
Also about SF on TV. Battle Star Gallactica gets good reports so I suppose I should try watching it.

I am re-reading the Amber series. The writing is as good as I remembered.

Having read the series so many times now, I can almost envy someone reading it for the first time and being surprised by the events.

Bmat, yup. It was so wonderful the first time, when you didn't know who the ultimate bad guy was. Excellent work by Zelazny keeping the reader (and Corwin) off balance. And the first person narrative was so well suited.
